Max Hancock

Max Hancock was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. Previously working in Singapore for nearly nine years, he now resides in the United States, near the Washington DC area.

Max worked as a lead art director at Wunderman. In 2011 he left the agency life and is now a full-time freelance illustrator and designer. Some of his clients include Google, eBay, AARP, Microsoft, and he regularly works for Ogilvy and other creative agencies.

Max works in a wide variety of illustration styles depending on the subject matter and tone of the piece. Initially working in dry brush and ink, he moved to digital art methods. Using organic and hard-surface 3D modelling workflows, he specialises in dimensional art.

His creative influences stem from constructivist style, American comics, Dada, deconstruction and modern architecture, street art, post-modern and contemporary art. His time in Singapore has influenced his style, drawing from the modern illustration styles seen there. Beyond these influences, he is interested in philosophy, and storytelling.
