Joanna Layla is a London-based illustrator. She graduated with first-class Honours in English Language and Literature, a degree that sparked her interest in visual language and communication. Joanna sees literature as a parallel discipline to illustration. This unique interpretation is a thread that runs throughout her creative practice, from design, to her poetic interpretation of a brief. She is drawn to the human figure – both in fashion and art – and her subtle watercolour textures and striking colour palette transform the conceptual into stunning visual solutions.
In 2017 Joanna Layla was shortlisted for the Prize for Illustration and has recently worked with clients including Burning Eye Books, John Brown Media, Healthy Magazine, Welcome to Macintosh, UnFold and Barbican. Her illustrations feature in campaigns by brands including Bombay Sapphire and The White Company.
