Jose Urbay Alamar 


Jose R. Urbay is a Cuban-Canadian visual artist based in Vancouver, BC. He has exhibited his artwork internationally in solo and group exhibitions in Havana, Madrid, New York, Brussels, Venice and Vancouver. He finds inspiration in his personal memories, spirituality, religion, nostalgia and the landscapes of his beloved island. 

The year 1994 was the starting point of Urbay’s career when he enrolled at the Institute of Design in Havana, majoring in graphic design. In 2014 he also graduated with distinction from the Graphic Design Associate Program at BCIT (British Columbia Institute of Technology) in Vancouver, Canada. 

His preferred media are acrylics, oils, ink and digital mixed media.
