Anita Mejía
With her interests firmly rooted in the narrative qualities of illustration, Anita Mejía’s work is also characterised by a strong attention to detail as well as composition and often features elements reminiscent of Mexican folk art.
Even if she sometimes adds color and other adjustments digitally, Anita Mejía works mainly in ink. Acrylic, indian or otherwise using fountain, ballpoint or dip pens and brushes she crafts her work traditionally. That is, on paper.
Born in Ensenada, Baja California, Anita Mejía developed a set of characters based on her experiences and her pet cats which later gave birth to a graphic novel published by Penguin Random House and a licensing brand which bears her name and has a strong, broad presence in México.
Anita Mejía’s license is represented by Brand New Day Licensing.
