Federica Fagiolini

Federica Fagiolini is an Italian artist, born in 1992. Her relationship with art began from a young age with a love of drawing.

After graduating from high school, she enrolled in TheSign, an arts academy in Florence, Italy.

During her studies she experimented with realism, but her true passion lies in children’s illustration.

She started to favour working in watercolours after her son was born. His youthfulness and innocence inspired her to paint animals and their everyday life. As he grew older, after watching him play with his stuffed toys, Federica started to shape animals using Sculpey polymer clay and felted wool.

Federica says, “I realise now that being a mother is a big part of my art and that I became a better artist when my son, my real inspiration, was born.”
