L A Buckett
L.A. Buckett is a New Zealand based illustrator with training in both traditional fine art and digital design. His style is a mix of influences including traditional Japanese art, modern pop culture and vintage cartoons he updates using contemporary shapes, symbols, and types. Black, white, and red characters are often found in Buckett’s work, portrayed with trouble-luring and cynical attitudes and provocatively captured in moments of high emotion or humour. Buckett’s work has appeared on surface wall designs, book and vinyl album covers, advertisements and magazines.
Alongside solo exhibitions of works representing his individual style, Buckett is the co-owner alongside Oscar Guerrero of The Perfect Film and Chemical Corporation design studio, and is the art director for the NZ based game development company TinyBit Games.
