Lydia Tjia is an artist who currently resides and runs her creative practice from Southern California.

Her portfolio features hand-lettering, watercolour, calligraphy, and graphic design. She works primarily with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.

2018 has seen her practice expand to painting murals. Her work has been commissioned by churches and also featured on the television programme, ‘We’re the Campbells’.

Unusually for an artist and designer, her academic qualifications include a degree in Computer Science and a working history as a computer programmer.

Lydia reflects on how her relationship with art has been shaped though her life experiences;

“As a young computer analyst, I appreciated the precision and consistency of numbers and codes, but when I became a mother, I learned to improvise and embrace the whimsical, artistic, and spontaneous. I have grown to thoroughly love both its meticulousness and creative freedom, both of which I could not truly appreciate without my years as a programmer and mother.”
