Alfonso Garcia

Alfonso Garcia is a first generation Mexican-American artist born and raised in West Los Angeles. He is best known for his hand lettering styles, which he masters in several mediums from gold leaf on glass, to exterior typography murals and most recently using the human body as a canvas by learning the art of tattooing.  His job at the time, as a sales associate at Blick Art Materials encouraged him to experiment with a wide variety of media and materials. He attended the Sign Graphics program at LATTC in 2013 where he learned the basics of sign painting from Doc Guthrie for one year. Soon after he apprenticed at a professional private tattoo studio in Downtown Los Angeles and started his career as a freelance artist soon after.

Alfonso recently had the pleasure of participating in ‘BEYOND THE STREETS’, the premier Los Angeles based exhibition of graffiti, street art and beyond. Alfonso produced work for the Ron Finley installation for his ‘Gangster Garden’. He was commissioned to hand paint two benches that read  ‘We Grow’ and ‘Together’.

He also subcontracts for two outdoor advertising companies specialising in large-scale, hand-painted murals.

Alfonso continues to perfect his craft and still experiments with  a wide range of media to produce fresh and dynamic creative solutions for all his projects.
