Iskra Johnson

Seattle designer Iskra Johnson came to letterforms through the study of Tai Chi, Zen meditation and Buddhist ink painting, and spent the first decade of her career immersed in the world of fine art calligraphy. She has a degree in painting, and is primarily self-taught as a lettering artist. In her lettering design she blends a painter’s sensibility with typography to create logotypes, book titling and handwriting campaigns.

She is the hand behind the American Express My Life My Card campaign, movie titles for Disney and Dreamworks, logos for Hilary Duff and Naomi Judd, and recently completed a typeface for Vanguard Mutual Funds, among other projects. Her work has been featured in Print, CA and the Type Directors Club.
