Thyra Helgesen

Thyra Helgesen is an illustrator based in South Florida. She achieved an Illustration BFA from Minneapolis College of Art & Design in 2012.
Her work focuses on subjects such as psychology, sexuality, marine biology/biology, zoology, the sciences, and culture. Thyra uses the sea, forest, creatures, and any art form of nature as symbology.
Thyra creates illustrations that are traditional and also digital pieces, which have a hand-drawn feel of paper and pencil. Her artistic heroes include fellow MCAD artist friends and professors, Ernst Haeckel, Fuco Ueda, Frida Kahlo, Alphonse Mucha, James Jean, Jon MacNair, and Shunga artists.
