Karine Deschênes
Illustration
My name is Karine Deschênes, I graduated from Cégep de Rivière-du-Loup since 2016 in graphic design. I live in La Malbaie, a small town located in the Quebec region (Canada). Currently, I offer my services as a graphic designer and freelance illustrator. I aspire to make myself known as an illustrator, to go beyond my creativity and share it with a larger target audience.
The themes of my works are inspired by the reality of everyday life such as: music, fashion, social media, etc. Each artwork incorporates a colour background or a watercolour paper texture, in order to highlight the character or object. Also, 90% of the illustrations represent a character inspired by photographs, which often expresses an emotion, a way and a reality of the everyday life or the imagination. The style is characterised by a line of black lines from pale to dark. In addition, the creation process begins with hand drawn sketches and the integration of it on the computer and reworked on the Photoshop software using the graphics tablet. Also, we find the integration of typography, to express or put impact in the work. The style is described as minimalist, vintage and comic. I consider myself to be a creative, versatile and sociable person, motivated by collaborative work.
