Sara Jabbari
Sara Jabbari is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer who describes herself as “a little nugget with an endless amount of determination.” Her life revolves around design with a style that directly reflects her vibrant personality, architectural influence from places she’s lived and patterns inspired by her Iranian background.
Born in Los Angeles, she sought a taste for East Coast life and packed her brushes and sketch pads to study Illustration and Graphic Design at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore. She continues her professional design career in New York City where her prominent skills being utilised are: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, typography, branding, drawing and screen printing.
The bulk of her time is spent on independent projects as well as full-time design curation and freelance projects for brands, musicians and special events—some of which include Bvlgari and Under Armour. Her spare time is dedicated to Glitch Bitch, a pin brand that she co-owns.
Sara strives to establish a level of hierarchy in all of her work. She uses various dimensions and intentional layers to direct the audience’s eye to what she wants them to see and in what order. Her artistic goal is to invoke a feeling of curiosity and discovery to inspire the viewer to dissect and determine the purpose of each detail. Finding true originality in present day is difficult, which is why she revels in challenging herself to combine unconventional styles that bring a new twist and flavour to recognisable images and graphic elements.
As for the future, Sara intends to concentrate on Glitch Bitch and expand to additional mediums such as shirts and patches. She hopes to someday start her own branding creative agency where she can introduce her unique style and fresh perspective to the masses.
