Chris Tilbury
Chris Tilbury is an illustrator living in Norwich and working in London. He studied and enjoyed art at school, but stopped to pursue other interests—as a result, everything you see is the result of hours of practice in evenings and weekends. Having finished university degrees in history and newspaper journalism, he began working for Prospect magazine in Westminster. Here, as the magazine’s Production Editor, he reconnected with his artistic side while working closely with the Creative Director to seek out new illustrators and designers and to create original designs in-house.
Much of his illustration work takes place outside of his day job, but simple black and white illustrations accompany Prospect’s “Life” section. When it comes to creating, Chris prefers to rough out sketches using pencil and paper before digitising his work using an iPad Pro and Procreate and then applying the finishing touches in Photoshop.
In the future Chris hopes to be able to continue to illustrate for Prospect and to grow his client base to include some of the biggest global publishers and commercial clients. But most of all he hopes that people see something in his work that they can connect with.
