Igor Karash
Igor Karash is an illustrator and designer based in St. Louis, Missouri.
Igor grew up in Baku, Azerbaijan where he studied architecture, and later graduated from the Kharkov State Art & Design Academy in Ukraine.
His approach to illustration is rooted in Eastern European school of graphic arts and illustration. Igor’s versatility allowed him to create a diverse body of work for book illustration, theater and environmental graphics. What differentiates Igor’s illustration is his tendency of searching for a well-defined, unique visual language for every project he is involved with. Most accomplished series of illustrations were created for the Folio Society in London – The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter and two volumes edition of the War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy for which Igor created 30 illustrations and striking binding design.
Igor’s work has been recognized by numerous prestigious illustration competitions including the Book International Biennial in Slovakia, House of Illustration and Folio Society Competition in the UK, Luerzer’s Archive in Austria, Creative Quarterly Magazine, American Illustration 32 and 34, and Graphis in the US.
