Julia Chen is a Taiwanese American designer born in Los Angeles and raised in Taiwan. She moved to California to study Psychology at UC Santa Barbara.
There, she was exposed to the world of design and tech startups. After college, she attended grad school to pursue an MFA in visual communication but promptly dropped out for a more fast-paced lifestyle working for a Bay Area startup.
She’s currently a Senior Product Designer at an ed-tech startup in San Francisco helping learners all over the world build better study habits.
Due to her own experience making a career out of her hobby, she spends her free time helping others learn new skills to pursue their passions. She teaches women to code at Girl Develop workshops, volunteers for Toastmasters to help people improve their communication skills and hosts design events around San Francisco, California.
